Microsoft has rolled out a major update to its Xbox Cloud Gaming platform, introducing 50 new games that can now be streamed via the “stream your own game” feature. These titles, while purchasable on the Xbox Store, are not part of the Game Pass catalog.
This means Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscribers can now stream select games they own without being required to be included in the Game Pass library.
Supported platforms for this feature include Smart TVs, Amazon Fire devices, and popular browsers like Chrome, Safari, and Edge. Microsoft also revealed plans to bring this functionality to the Xbox app on Windows and Xbox consoles next year.
Xbox Cloud Gaming: A Work in Progress
This feature has been developing for years, with its beta version announced during a limited trial. While progress has been steady, Xbox Cloud Gaming still lags behind competitors like GeForce Now, which offers a larger library and higher streaming quality for premium users.
Currently, around 380 games from Xbox’s catalog are playable via the cloud. With the addition of the latest 50 titles, Microsoft is gradually expanding its streaming capabilities.
Supported Devices
The feature isn’t yet universally available across all devices. Currently, it is limited to:
- Select Samsung Smart TVs
- Amazon Fire devices
- Meta Quest VR headsets (2, 3, and Pro)
Microsoft aims to broaden support in the future, enabling more players to access their games on a variety of platforms.

Competing in the Cloud Gaming Market
While this update strengthens Xbox Cloud Gaming, it still faces tough competition. Platforms like GeForce Now boast a more extensive library and better streaming quality. However, Xbox Cloud Gaming distinguishes itself by offering a seamless experience for Game Pass Ultimate subscribers and the ability to stream games users already own.
Microsoft’s addition of 50 new titles to its Xbox Cloud Gaming service is a step forward in making gaming more accessible and flexible. As the company expands support for more devices and improves its cloud technology, this feature has the potential to become an integral part of the gaming ecosystem.
