Installing Eeebuntu 3.0....

Getting Started.

So you've already Created your live USB stick using one of the guides HERE or HERE on the WIKI? Good!

So we will just see what we need to do from there.

Dont Forget to Esc!

Plug your usb into your Eeepc and hit the power. Once you see the Gray ASUS screen

Now hit yourEsc Key a few times and you'll be presented with the boot options. Just select the name of your USB/SD card and hit enter.

Testing out the LiveCD

Here you have the choice to try out Eeebuntu or just Install; its your call.

Boot into the liveCD and have a play around. Once you're ready just hit the Install icon on the desktop.

Now from here, EEEbuntu installs in the same way you expect the usual Ubuntu set-up to install. But for those who don't have Ubuntu on another computer we will do it step by step.

Installing Eeebuntu

First we are greeted by the language selection screen,
Then you can pick your timezone and city to set the system clock and locale

Then finally the keyboard layout.

Partition Options

Now this is were personal choice comes into play..... Every model of the EEE has a different hard drive setup. Here im testing on a 8gig 901 but I have a 1000 at home.

You can let the installer format and use the entire HDD,

or you can manually set it up.

So Depending on the size of your HDD(s) you can have SWAP or no swap; ext2/3/4 or your home on a separate disk.

Its your call!

For swap you don't need anything higher that 1gig unless you've got 2gig ram then I'd suggest 2gig.

BE ADVISED: If you want to be able to use the hibernate command you will need a swap file greater than 512mb.

Setting your Personal settings

So we've done the partition options and its formatted out drives as we requested. Now we just need to fill in out Personal credentials so we know we can login and manage out system!

Now we just need a bit of patience!!!!

Final Hurdle - Reboot.

Now Eeebuntu is installed on your system. We just need to let it boot up as we want and see how things look!

Login and enjoy Eeebuntu!!
